Description of the association
Between 1960 and 1985, the editors and journalists of Slovenian internal magazines were brought together within their respective trade unions. During that period professional and social meetings were held within the trade union forums. In 1987, they formally separated from the union and joined professional journalists within the Slovenian Association of Journalists. Within this association an independent section was established for editors and journalists of company publications; it counted 60 members. Political, social and economical changes in Slovenia as well as changes in the profession of journalism and internal communications developed the need for a new organisation of internal communicators. In November 2005, the Section of Internal Communicators (SIK) within the PR Society of Slovenia (PRSS) was established.

Our services
The main goal of SIK, which brings together about 40 members, is to connect internal communication experts of Slovenian companies. Education is the section’s main activity. It runs seminars and workshops offering practical knowledge and training on topics like writing, content and design of internal publications. Every year it organises two section meetings which focus on current economic and social issues in Slovenia presented by eminent experts in different fields. Members of SIK participate actively in all activities which are organised by the PR Society of Slovenia. Each year, members of SIK enter for a national award for the best internal communication publication, Papirus.
